Guidelines for Your Digital Privacy
Online privacy is not a goal achieved once and for all, but a set of daily behaviors. These guidelines offer clear and immediate directions to improve your level of protection right away.
Want to go beyond “what to do” and understand the “how” and “why”? Each point is explored in depth in the modules of the Cyber Welfare Program.
🔑 1. Identity Management: Your First Line of Defense
Most breaches occur due to unauthorized access.
- The Golden Rule: Use long, complex, and different passwords for every account.
- The Upgrade: Always enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Even if a hacker finds your password, they won’t be able to enter without the second code on your phone.

🛡️ 2. Data Protection: Make your Information Unusable for Others
Your data is only valuable if it is readable and available.
- Encryption: Ensure that the padlock (HTTPS) is always present in the address bar.
- Backup: Apply the rule of constant saving. If your data is only in one place, it is not safe.

Browsing the web doesn’t mean having to give up your privacy.
- Public Wi-Fi: Avoid accessing bank accounts or sensitive emails from open Wi-Fi networks (cafes, airports) without proper protection.
- Geolocation: Share your location only when strictly necessary.

🧠 4. Offline Defense: Train Your Critical Thinking
Even the most sophisticated software can do nothing against human error.
- Beware of Urgency: If an email or message asks you to act “immediately” to avoid a block or collect a prize, it is almost certainly Phishing.
- Verify Sources: Not everything you read online is true. Before sharing, check the authority of the source.
